Being the company's main technical resource as well as being in charge of all aspects of project management and commissioning presented a lot of daily challenges but also afforded me the opportunity to develop a unique set of skills outside my technical core competency. I have been heavily exposed to customer support and training, managing installation and commissioning of systems while working in a very timely sensitive and demanding environment.

 

Through my efforts I have increased YorkeTowne business in the automotive sector by 100%. I have also brought new business in the form of equipment upgrades to 2 major Tier 1 automotive suppliers, worth $ 750.000. While being able to retain previous customer base, I have also helped YorkeTowne expand its business into adjacent markets (such as woodworking and high end body shop) through successful completion of more than 15 projects conducted in Southern Ontario and Eastern Europe.

• Working in conjunction with OEM to setup test sites for newly designed automated fluid delivery machines. Debugging mechanical and electrical, logging performance data, reporting operational status and providing input for further improvement prior to market release (on site).

• Implementing safety devices and concepts for meeting compliance with health and safety standards.
• Providing drawings and schematics for installed systems (AutoCAD Light 2000).

• Process improvement. Working with customers to identify and address process performance issues and proposing solutions to correct or optimize.

The company needed someone with special problem solving skills, capable of resolving a wide range of one time issues and finding solutions to reduce customer´s downtime, as well as meeting deadlines for systems installations.

 

While working at Spray Quip, I have successfully achieved the company´s goal to put in place 4 major automotive projects worth more than $ 2.5 million dollars in Canada and the U.S.A. and acted as the main technical advisor for approximately 25 other smaller projects worth around $ 1.5 million dollars.

 

I was also responsible of managing a small department of 2 technicians as well as interfacing with customers in order to provide technical advice, training and process improvement solutions ( equipment updates, obsolesce retrofitting and communication of new technologies).

• Providing support for integration and interfacing between fluid delivery systems and industrial robotics.
• Testing and calibration of closed fluid loop control on automated GRACO-PMIX machines (on site).
• Sizing of fluid delivery systems and components and design of custom fluid delivery solutions.
• Board level and controller testing (PLC and I/O communication).
• Design and execution of pneumatic logic and pneumatic enclosures.
• Perform service calls and maintenance (on site and after hours).
• Work with customers to develop specific maintenance programs and scheduling for equipment repairs.
• In house and on site training programs. Developed custom procedures and training materials.

 

 

Acting as a maintenance mechanic I was capable of keeping the production line running almost 24 hours a day on 7 days a week rotating shifts environment. Main responsibilities included all mechanical troubleshoot for FANUC industrial robotics and all other automated machines integrated with them. I have also managed the maintenance department activities (two mechanics and two apprentices), reporting to Engineering and Maintenance manager.
